What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? The government-wide direct hire authority for Physical Scientist is being used to fill this position. Salary: $99,172 (Step 01) to $128,920 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired atthe Step 01.
Major Duties
As a Physical Scientist within the National Minerals Information Center, some of your specific duties will include:
- Organizes and analyzes data and information on mineral and material production, consumption, trade, recovery, recycling and losses at each life cycle stage.
- Develops new and improves current methodologies and indicators for assessing supply risk, import reliance, price elasticities, and industrial sector vulnerabilities for non-fuel mineral commodities.
- Develops supply and demand scenarios based on top-down and bottom-up material stocks and flows models, system dynamics modeling, and/or econometric models.
- Leads multidisciplinary, cross-functional project teams to produce material flow analyses on non-fuel mineral commodities.
- Disseminates results orally and in writing for submission in peer-reviewed international scientific and economic journals.
