Job Summary

The Naval Air Systems Command is seeking candidates with distinguished scholastic achievement in engineering degrees for professional engineer positions in the Engineer and Scientist Development Program (ESDP). This notice is issued under the Department of Defense's Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Appointment (DSAA) Authority for Science and Technology to recruit and appoint individuals with undergraduate through the doctoral level possessing distinguished scholastic achievements.

Major Duties

  • 0806-Materials Engineering Series: Material engineers generate and/or apply the theories, principles, practical concepts, and processes related to materials engineering science.
  • 0810-Civil Engineering Series: Civil engineers are involved in the construction, renovation, inspection, decommissioning, and/or demolition of structures, infrastructures, and their environmental systems above or under the earth's surface.
  • 0830-Mechanical Engineer: work involves the design, development, commission, manufacture, operation, maintenance and disposal of mechanical devices and systems and their equipment.
  • 0850-Electrical Engineer: handle work that requires primarily application of knowledge of: 1) the physical and engineering sciences and mathematics; 2) electrical phenomena; and 3) the principles, techniques, and practices of electrical engineering.
  • 0854-Computer Engineer: work requires the application of knowledge of: computer hardware, systems software, and computer system architecture and integration; and mathematics.
  • 0855-Electronics Engineer: handle work that requires primarily application of knowledge of: 1) the physical and engineering sciences and mathematics; 2) electronic phenomena; and 3) the principles, techniques and practices of electronics engineering.
  • 0861-Aerospace Engineer: work involves planning, research, development, design, test and evaluation, analysis, production, fabrication, operation, type certification, and/or maintenance of aerospace vehicles or integrally associated equipment.
  • 0893-Chemical Engineer: work involves: chemical processes utilized by industries and scientific technologies to produce useful products and systems.
  • 0896-Industrial Engineer: perform work to determine, evaluate, predict, and advise on effective ways for an organization to use its production factors to make or process a product or provide a service.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, you must meet the Selective Placement Factor (SPF). The SPF for each series is listed below. Possession of the SPF must be verifiable via your resume, Occupational Questionnaire, AND your transcripts: 0806 Materials Engineering: Degree in Materials Engineering or Materials Science Engineering 0810 Civil Engineering: Degree in Civil Engineering0830 Mechanical Engineering: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering 0850 Electrical Engineering: Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering 0854 Computer Engineering: Degree in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering 0855 Electronics Engineering: Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering 0861 Aerospace Engineering: Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering 0893 Chemical Engineering: Degree in Chemical Engineering 0896 Industrial Engineering: Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering AND DSAA eligibility requirement for ALL positions:A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better in a professional engineering curriculum; OR Within the top 10 percent of a university's major school of graduate studies in a professional engineering curriculum. Pay Range

$39,291.00 - $78,540.00
