Major Duties
- Develops and conducts research as a means to identify and subtype viral pathogens using microbiological and molecular approaches.
- Designs, develops, and conducts tests on various foodborne pathogenic viruses such as human norovirus and hepatitis A virus.
- Attends conferences, meetings, and delivers lectures on subjects relevant to the research program, often as and expert speaker or key participant.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
In order be eligible for the position of Research Biologist, (GS-0401-14), you must meet the following requirements. Basic Requirement: Biologist, GS-0401
A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position OR B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. AND
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Specialized Experience:
You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Using molecular techniques such as PCR and/or sequencing to extract viral genome from food matrices to detect and identify viruses; AND Initiating and designing studies to detect and characterize foodborne viruses. Pay Range
$121,316.00 - $157,709.00
