Job Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist in the Hazardous Property Branch/Hampton Roads Division of the Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.

Major Duties

  • You will serve as the site manager within the Hazardous Property Branch.
  • You will serve as a deputy branch director providing hazardous materials in a timely manner and meeting the hazardous material needs of the customer base.
  • You will ensure the hazardous materials functions are managed in an environmentally acceptable manner.
  • You will supervise and direct staff through subordinate supervisors.
  • You will plan work to be accomplished, set and adjust short term priorities, and prepare work completion schedules.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing environmental protection work performing administrative or program duties relating to environmental protection programs in a supply setting (e.g., programs to protect or improve environmental quality, control pollution, remedy environmental damage, or ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations). Specific work experience must include: 1. Applying hazardous materials field concepts, principles, practices, and the laws, rules, regulations, and policies to oversee an environmental protection team performing environmental protection work related to hazardous material management (i.e managing receipt, stow, issue of hazardous material); 2. Resolve specific conflicts in the work environment and defend and explain the program concepts during regulatory and oversight visits related to a hazardous materials programs; 3. Develop solutions to problems where precedents are not applicable and where guidance is not sufficiently clear related to hazardous material management; 4. Develop and apply innovative and nontraditional control methods related to an environmental protection program; 5. Supervise subordinate employees performing hazardous material supply work/environmental protection duties, assigning work and evaluating performance. Pay Range

$77,091.00 - $100,223.00
