Job Summary

The population of the Fayetteville area, which includes Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base is just over 300,000. Fayetteville is only 2 hours from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, 4 hours from the mountains, and a little over an hour from the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Numerous first class golfing venues abound and the area has a full range of outdoor activities like camping, boating and fishing.

Major Duties

  • Serve as Chief, Quality Assurance Section who is responsible for planning and supervising construction management and quality assurance of all construction projects and providing policy guidance and staff assistance to field offices.
  • Advise on the application of professional engineering theory and a practical knowledge of construction methods employed in the building industry.
  • Plan and supervise the work of approximately 14 professional engineers and technicians engaged in exercising construction and specialized engineering surveillance and quality management over a wide variety of Civil Works projects.
  • Plan and Supervise military construction projects, such as dams, levees, power plants and utility systems, recreational facilities, hangars, schools, communications facilities, jet fuel storage tanks, maintenance and sewage treatment facilities, etc.
  • Responsible for the supervision, evaluation, coordination, training and assignment of personnel in the branch.

Ensure subordinates are conducting and supporting pre-final and final inspections of construction work. Coordinate the efforts of technical staff in resolving design and construction issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$94,803.00 - $123,247.00
