Job Summary
This position is located in the Huntington District Corps of Engineers where you will function as Chief, Technical Support Branch, within the Operations and Readiness Division, sharing fully in managing the operation and maintenance activities of the navigation and flood control projects and water management over parts of five states. The operation and maintenance program consists of navigation locks and dams and flood control dams and reservoirs.
Major Duties
- Participate in all technical and administrative functions and manage all activities of the Division.
- Develop programs and policies; contract administration; maintain good public relations; initiate personnel management actions.
- Make independent decisions within broad District policies and continuously act for the Chief as needed.
- Serve as senior level advisor and manager on special emphasis programs in relation to repair and structural maintenance of the District's flood control structures; navigation channel maintenance; and recreation natural resources management.
- Provides technical assistance to subordinates, reviews completed work and makes decisions or recommendations on controversial matters
- Confers with section chiefs on work progress, work load, and management improvements.
- Prepares performance standards and evaluates performance, approves leave, settles employee grievances and recommends appropriate disciplinary action.
- Continually review Operations and Maintenance (O and M) activities through discussion and visits to ascertain desired results.
- Represent in conference with the Executive Office, and in meetings with higher headquarters, other agencies, or the public on controversial and complex problems, pertaining to O and M.
- Maintain liaison with other Federal, state, and local governments, private and public organizations, environmental, commercial, and industrial interests.
- Coordinate and prepare budget estimates, requests for funds, and justification data. Assure continuing analysis of work in progress to determine expenditures are within budgetary limits.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). B. Pay Range
$104,821.00 - $136,271.00
