Job Summary

This position will be the Supervisor of the South Coast Branch, Regulatory Division located in either Carlsbad, CA or downtown Los Angeles, CA.

Major Duties

  • The incumbent serves as Branch Chief with responsibility for administering and enforcing the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers' (CoE) Regulatory Program within the Los Angeles District.
  • The purpose of the program is to improve and enhance the physical, biological and chemical integrity of the nation's wetland, riparian and aquatic resources.
  • Ensures regulated activities in these waters are not contrary to the public interest in terms of environmental, social and economic concerns.
  • Ensures compliance with governing public laws such as the Clean Water Act (CWA), Rivers and Harbors Act (RHA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Endangered Species Act (ESA).
  • Also the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and others, as well as their implementing regulations, interagency agreements, Corps Headquarters policies, and the directives of the District Commander.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) leadership and management of a Regulatory Program (or related program) ensuring compliance with governing public laws such as the Clean Water Act and Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, and other applicable federal environmental statutes to challenging permit actions; (2) providing technical guidance, and coordinating assessment, mitigation, and resolution of environmental impacts of proposed projects with the public and other agencies/ and (3) development and sustainment of relationships with key stakeholders engaged in the Corps' Regulatory Program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$120,656.00 - $160,041.00
