Major Duties
- Serves as the USACE Safety Programs Data Management National Technical Leader and principal advisor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Dam Safety and Levee Safety Programs.
- Responsible for defining requirements, developing solutions and long term oversight of operation and maintenance of deployed solutions.
- Leads technical work of district staff and virtual staff employed by the national centers serving the Dam Safety and Levee Safety Programs.
- Serve as National Levee Database (NLD) technical lead through multiple development projects, database, and geospatial information systems, to support efforts to gather, manage, and communicate data on every levee in the country.
- Develop, review, and/or update engineering publications, criteria, and guidance related to the Dam and Levee Safety Program data management initiative.
- Create long-range, multi-year program and project management plans for the data management team, supporting the USACE Safety Program.
- Make technical presentations for the purpose of sharing program status or disseminating data management policy for Corps-wide application.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Geographer: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Basic Requirement for Cartographer: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in cartography, or a degree with a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites). OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Developing, testing, and advising methods, approaches, and guidelines for data management and engineering decision support to support Dam and Levee Safety. 2) Justify, defend, negotiate, or settle matters involving data management issues within the Dam and Levee Safety programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Pay Range
$108,904.00 - $141,573.00
