Job Summary
This position is located within the Exobiology Branch at Ames Research Center. Serves as a Supervisory Research Physical Scientist for an organization that conducts theoretical, experimental laboratory and field research in Exobiology concerning the origin and evolution of life on Earth and detecting life elsewhere in the universe and primarily supports the NASA Science Mission Directorate (SMD) Research and Analysis (R&A) programs and missions.

- Supports NASA SMD projects and missions by performing research and/or technology development in an Astrobiology related field, or by supporting special projects, such as organizing review panels, workshops, and conferences.
- Supports the Branch in strategic planning, developing new business opportunities, and assisting in budget tracking.
- Coordinates and oversees facility and safety related projects, and ensures compliance in requirements. These may include construction/renovation projects, safety and environmental inspections, and audits.
- May serve as a technical monitor for contracts and cooperative agreements.

Qualifications
In addition to meeting Basic Education Requirements, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-13) level, which has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.To Qualify for the GS-14:One year of specialized experience is defined as experience in leading/managing a team of scientists/researchers/engineers executing Space Sciences, Astrobiology, or Planetary Systems Science programs/projects and/or experience providing science discipline leadership in areas such as chemistry, biology, microbiology, geology, geobiochemisty, or other subdisciplines of astrobiology/exobiology.
Pay Range
$131,507.00 - $170,800.00
