Job Summary
This position is located on the Chippewa National Forest in Cass Lake, MN. Duties of the position include responsibility for planning, managing, coordinating, reviewing, and reporting for several natural resources. Major Duties

- Serve as a key member of the Forest Management Team to formulate plans, policies, and objectives for the Forest.
- Direct the activities of subordinate programs to ensure Forest Plan requirements and goals are accomplished.
- Coordinate resource management planning activities.
- Promote ecosystem management, ensuring long term productivity and ecologically sustainable goals are implemented, maintained, and achieved.
- Coordinate Forest management of programs directed with public officials, industry representatives, and citizen groups.
- Responsible for program management, planning, budgeting and management information for identifying work force and organizational needs, and Forest priorities.
- Help define and integrate that mission into the Forest, Regional and Service wide programs.

Basic Requirement: 101 Series: Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. 401 Series: Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major field of study that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Related course work generally refers to courses that may be accepted as part of the program major.

Combination of education and experience that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, AND experience sufficient to demonstrate that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation that is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field needed to perform the work of the occupation. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as two of the following: Provided leadership in managing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, reviewing, and reporting on a natural resource management program; Participated in strategic planning efforts and directed implementation activities within a natural resource management program area to support and achieve objectives; Prepared environmental analysis documents, management plans and other reports; Provided review and recommendations for these documents for management consideration; Facilitated the development of partnerships, agreements and grant proposals to meet program and mission objectives. For the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is defined as two of the following: Provided leadership and/or guidance in the management of natural resource related programs; Implemented and executed project plans for a natural resources program area or related area; Coordinated assigned programs and plans with other resource management functions; Provided recommendations on development and execution of natural resource programs to ensure their accomplishment within applicable guidelines; participated in land management planning efforts by providing resource data information, advice and members of staff to help formulate long range plans for the functional areas of the program; Prepared and/or assessed short-range and long-range functional resource and fiscal plans to ensure compliance with land management planning policies and regulations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Pay Range
$76,721.00 - $118,603.00
