California Community Foundation

The FEDCO Charitable Foundation was created when the FEDCO chain of stores closed in 1999. After creditors and employee benefits were paid in full, the remaining assets of more than $7 million were used to establish the FEDCO Charitable Foundation, a supporting organization of the California Community Foundation, which administers the FEDCO Teacher Grants program. The foundation will award grants for projects that promote engaging and creative experiential learning activities related to core curriculum standards or that integrate community-related topics. Suggested projects include but are not limited to a nature-themed field trip, a series of experiments, a visit to a museum or cultural institution, or some form of community involvement. In addition, projects must be designed to increase student academic achievement in language arts, math, science and/or social studies. Eligibility: Applicants must be a full-time teacher in grades K-12 at a public or charter school in one of the following California school districts: LAUSD, ABC, Culver City, Norwalk-La Mirada, or Pasadena Unified. Deadlines: June 30th, 2015
