Outstanding Contribution to the Public Understanding of the Geosciences

This award is presented to individuals or organizations for contributions that have led to a greater public understanding of the role of geosciences in the affairs of society. The cited contribution will be for work in the geosciences as a science or as geoscience relates to the economic or environmental aspects of modern civilization. The recipient may be a geoscientist or non-geoscientist or an organization or institution that is geoscience or non geoscience in character and has had a significant impact or improved understanding of the contributions that the geosciences make to society.
