The U.S. Geological Survey's interactive map, "Energy In Our Nation," provides a wide range of information on energy resources in the United States, including:

  • Oil and gas exploration and production through 2005/2006
  • The 2012 USGS shale gas assessment for the United States
  • Geothermal potential and sites in the West.
  • Wind turbines
  • Coal data

Users can zoom in and click on individual features for more information. All of the data can be downloaded for further use and analysis, and links to additional information are available for each layer on the map.
