Interactive map of Vermont's geology and natural resources

The Vermont Center for Geographic Information's VT Interactive Map Viewer provides a large amount of information on Vermont's geology and natural resources, including:

  • Surface geology
  • Mineral resources - aggregate sand, gravel, and stone resources; historic mines
  • Renewable energy resources - wind, hydroelectric, solar, geothermal, and biomass
  • Waste management
  • Soils
  • Land cover/use
  • Water resources and water quality
  • Hazards - flooding, ice damage, and hazardous waste sites

The map allows users to select multiple layers that can be overlain on each other at different levels of transparency. By doing this, users can see how different features are related. Additional layers include information on ecology, demographics, public facilities and utilities, and emergency management.
