The American Geophysical Union (AGU) blog, "The Bridge" on science policy shared an update on the GOES-R satellite which is set to be launched on November 16th. Of note to readers in this article is the controversy surrounding the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) potentially auctioning off radio frequencies in nearby spectrums for commercial cellular use. This could interrupt communication of real-time data from the satellites to the end-user communities. The author notes that as the decision making process continues at the FCC, there should be additional opportunities to comment on this issue.
