“Geoscience Librarianship 101” – a free workshop on earth science information resources – will be presented by the Geoscience Information Society on Saturday, September 24 in Denver, Colorado. Registration is open to all information professionals as well as students in library and information studies.

GL101 is a professional development opportunity aimed at librarians new to the geosciences and those already in the field who want a refresher.  The day-long workshop will provide an overview of geoscience information and current topics in reference, research, and publications; collection development; geospatial information; and geoscience data management. The presenters are all experienced geoscience librarians: Emily Wild (U.S. Geological Survey), Lura Joseph (University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana), Amanda Bielskas (Columbia University), Linda Zellmer (Western Illinois University), and Hannah Hamalainen (University of New Hampshire).  After the formal presentations participants will have the opportunity to engage in open discussion and to network with other information professionals.

 

GL101 will be held from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM in the Collaborative Classroom Room 116, Auraria Library, 1100 Lawrence Street, Denver, CO 80204.
