March Cover of Explorer from AAPG. Historical black and white photo of men sitting on rocks.
Amid headlines about a world war raging in Europe and local arts news, the meeting of geologists still made the front page. The meeting of minds brought together early geologists, engineers and even "flimflam men" that would eventually become the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and shaped the field that would be known as petroleum geology.  Explorer celebrates the AAPG Centennial with an article that introduces readers the the founders of the organization and the romantic notion of having been a geologist at the turn of the last century. Continue the celebration at the Annual Convention and Exhibition next week in Houston - we'll see you at booth 1315!
