Announced the society news section of Elements Magazine, the Mineralological Society of America (MSA) President Rebecca Lange, shared that the society is exploring a new publishing initiative. An electronic-only data journal is viewed as a community need, since several disciplines across the geosciences are creating dataset repositories. The journal would provide a description of published data, and allow the data to be citeable and searchable.
