The Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) recently wrote an article based on research published in their journal. Soil contamination is a societal challenge, but adequately testing for contamination is a costly and time intensive process. Using three different portable spectroscopic sensors, a team analyzed soils and compared the results against known standards obtained through wet chemistry to see if the portable sensors could be viable as a quick and cost-effective technique to screen soils.
