SSA Reid Medal which is one of the most prestigious SSA awards
Earthquakes have the potential to impact lives, infrastructure and economies; and many scientists dedicate their careers to understanding them better. The Seismological Society of America recognizes several scientists annually for their advances in the field of seismology and for their work educating the public about the risks associated with earthquakes. This year awards were given to George Plafker, Annemarie Baltay and Keith Knudsen all USGS scientists and Humboldt State University professor Lori Dengler.
