ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Starting today, March 1, 2023, members of AGI Member Societies are invited to take advantage of free training in geoscience communication offered by the American Geosciences Institute (AGI) with generous support from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Foundation.

The Practical Geocommunication course presented by Geologize LTD, which is endorsed by leading geoscience organizations around the world, is being made available at no cost to all members of AGI Member Societies.

The course, valued at $400 per person, enables participants to access lessons, quizzes, assignments, and direct interaction with the course instructor, Dr. Haydon Mort, through forums. The training counts as nine hours of Continuing Professional Development, and a certificate is provided upon completion.

"We all understand the importance of communicating geoscience to the public and other stakeholders, and we believe that this training addresses critical issues around energy transition, climate change, our changing geoscience workforce, and a host of additional societal issues," AGI Executive Director Jonathan Arthur said on announcing the initiative.

AGI has provided information to its Member Societies with instructions on how to access the training. If you are a member of any of AGI's 45 Member Societies, you can expect to receive access instructions directly from your society. If you have not received this information, see the Practical Geocommunication website for a map with a link to your membership portal or an appropriate point of contact in your society.
