ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) and the Paleontological Society are excited to announce the creation of a new Geoscience Policy Summer Internship position at AGI. The intern, who must be a current student member of the Paleontological Society, will be an instrumental part of AGI's Geoscience Policy team based in the Washington, D.C., area.

 

"For over 20 years, with generous support from the American Institute of Professional Geologists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Foundation, AGI has offered policy internships to students and early-career geoscientists. This new collaboration with the Paleontological Society is a testament to the enduring strength of the AGI internship program," said AGI's Director of Geoscience Policy, Maeve Boland. "We are grateful to the Paleontological Society for funding this opportunity and look forward to working with the new intern this summer."

 

Arnold I. Miller, the President of the Paleontological Society, applauded the creation of the new intern position.  "At a time when the Paleontological Society is becoming more engaged in government affairs, we are very pleased to be partnering with AGI to offer this new internship", he said. "The intern's activities will support paleontology and the broader geosciences, while at the same time providing a unique, professional development opportunity for one of our students."
