President-Elect

Summary Job Description:

1. Three-year+ commitment
2. Works closely with President in Year One to ensure continuity in operations in Year Two
3. Serves if President not available
4. Becomes President of the Institute in Year Two
5. Serves on Nominating Committee in Year Three and chairs in Year Four
6. Institute's ambassador and chief spokesperson
7. Effective communications skills with Member Societies and externally with media
8. Contribute to AGI's DEI initiatives

Availability / Time Required: 5-6 meetings/year (more meeting opportunities during Presidential year)

Treasurer

Summary Job Description:

1. Requires four-year commitment
2. Serves as Treasurer for years one and two
3. Chairs Finance Committee for years three and four
4. Works closely with AGI Accounting to prepare financial reports
5. Requires sense of money management and accounting procedures

Approximately 6 meetings per year

Secretary

Summary Job Description:

1. Requires two-year commitment
2. Works closely with AGI Executive Director to prepare meeting records
3. Responsible for official meeting records
4. Sense of order and knowledge of meeting procedures helpful
5. Good recording and writing skills
6. Institute spokesperson and communicator

Approximately 6 meetings per year

Member-at-Large

Summary Job Description:

1. Requires three-year commitment
2. Serves in one of three Member at Large positions
3. Represents regional, disciplinary, and professional sector constituency
4. Serves on ad hoc subcommittees established by AGI President
5. AGI spokesperson for their constituency
6. Broad awareness of geoscience community issues and needs
7. Institute spokesperson and communicator
8. Contribute to AGI’s DEI initiatives

Approximately 5-6 meetings per year

Early Career Member-at-Large

Summary Job Description:

Must be no more than 12 years beyond their bachelor's degree (some flexibility for those who had caregiving responsibilities)

1. Requires three-year commitment
2. Serves in one of three Member at Large positions
3. Represents regional, disciplinary, and professional sector constituency
4. Serves on ad hoc subcommittees established by AGI President
5. AGI spokesperson for their constituency
6. Broad awareness of geoscience community issues and needs
