The meeting will discuss and provide advice on the National Sea Grant College Program (NSGCP) in the areas of program evaluation, strategic planning, education and extension, science and technology programs, and other matters. October 2, 2017 - The Chief Operating Officer of the National Science Foundation (NSF) has determined the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education Advisory Panel is necessary and in the public interest related to the duties of the NSF. The Advisory Panel will provide advice and recommendations to the Committee on STEM Education (CoSTEM), assess CoSTEM’s progress in carrying out responsibilities related to the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act, and help identify need or opportunity to update the Federal STEM Education 5-Year Strategic Plan. October 4, 2017 - The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science provided a notice that the Basic Energy Sciences Advisory Committee (BESAC) will be renewed for a two-year period. October 4, 2017 - The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced a meeting of the Ad Hoc Big Data Task Force (BDTF), which reports to the NASA Advisory Council's Science Committee, for the purpose of soliciting and discussing scientific and technical information relevant from the scientific community. The meeting is scheduled for November 1 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, November 2 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and November 3 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Local Time. October 18, 2017 - The Fish and Wildlife Service invites the public to comment on an application for a permit to conduct activities intended to enhance the propagation or survival of endangered species. With some exceptions, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) prohibits certain activities that constitute take of listest species unless a Federal permit is issued that allows such activity. October 26, 2017 - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Alaska State Office will hold an oil and gas lease sale bid opening for all available tracts in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska (NPR-A). The oil and gas lease sale will be on Wednesday, December 6 at 1 pm (AKST). The BLM must receive all sealed bids by Monday December 4 at 4pm. The Detailed Statement of Sale for the NPR-A Oil and Gas Lease Sale 2017 will be available to the public on October 26. [82 FR 49655]
