DOS - The U.S. Department of State (DOS), in cooperation with the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) seeks nominations for U.S. scientists with requisite expertise to serve on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report (AR6). Nominations may be submitted at https://contribute.globalchange.gov/​. The call for nominations will close on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. [Vol. 82, No. 176 (Wednesday, September 13)]

USGS - The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published a notice of a new information collection. The USGS Social and Economic Analysis Branch is investigating public values of changes in water quality within Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna River Basin. No such analysis has been conducted before in the area. Comments are due by November 14, 2017. [Vol. 82, No. 178 (Friday, September 15, 2017)]

OSMRE - The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) published a notice to the public that they will be granting funds to eligible applicants for authorized purposes of the Abandoned Mine Land (AML) Reclamation Program. The grants will be awarded during fiscal year (FY) 2018. Comments must be submitted by December 15, 2017. [Vol. 82, No. 183  (Friday, September 22, 2017)]

NOAA - The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) published a notice of an open meeting for its Science Advisory Board (SAB). The meeting will be held October 30, 2017, from 9:45 am to 5 pm EDT and on October 31, 2017, from 9 am to 12 pm EDT.  [Vol. 82, No. 184 (Monday, September 25, 2017)]

USGS - The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published a notice of the next meeting of the Scientific Earthquake Studies Advisory Committee (SESAC) on October 10-11, 2017. The Committee will review the activities of the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program and discuss mission priorities, so that it can advise the USGS Director on USGS participation in the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP). USGS - The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published a notice of the next meeting of the National Earthquake Prediction Evaluation Council (NEPEC) on October 16-17, 2017. The Committee will receive briefings and updates on forecast models and recommendations on effective earthquake science communication so that it can advise the USGS Director on USGS participation in the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP). The meeting is open to the public, but guests are encouraged to preregister by October 6. [Vol. 82, No. 185 (Tuesday, September 26, 2017)]
