Ashby named Director of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

On March 11, Michael Kluse, current Director of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), announced that Steven Ashby will take over as the new Director of PNNL on April 1 when Kluse retires. Ashby is the current Deputy Director of Science and Technology at PNNL and has served 30 years at the national laboratories. PNNL, located in Richland, Washington, is one of ten Department of Energy national labs. Through research into hydrogen and biomass-based fuels, PNNL works to increase U.S. energy capacity and decrease reliance on foreign oil. PNNL strives to reduce effects of energy generation and use on the environment, and also supports Homeland Security with research to prevent and counter terrorism and improve cyber security.
