Using a refined version of the popular game Minecraft, and incorporating important industry concepts, Team Atwood won the first Move Mining competition hosted by the Society for Mining and Metallurgy Exploration, Inc.

The Society for Mining and Metallurgy Exploration, Inc. (SME) announced the five team finalists for their Move Mining Competition out of 40 entries from 24 states and 7 countries. The teams are: Wasatch Wonders with their concept paper, "YoursMinedOurs"; Team Atwood with their concept paper, "Changing the World View of Mining Through Game Based Learning"; Montana Tech Club Met with "Mining Moves"; Queens University Mining Department Group 5 with "Mining Facts" and Miles of Smiles with "The Mineral Maniacs: A children's fantasy book series on mining."

College/University geoscience programs still have time to apply to participate in the 2017 Imperial Barrel Award (IBA). This is a competition hosted by American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and "is an annual prospective basin evaluation competition for geoscience graduate students from universities around the world.

Tomorrow, September 15^th, 2016 is the last day to enter the American Society of Agronomy/Crop Science Society of America/Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) 2016 Photo Contest. The theme for SSSA's contest is "Soils Sustain Life." Let us know if you're the lucky winner!

The official contest period for 2017 Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) is now open. The IBA competition is an annual prospective basin evaluation competition for geoscience graduate students from universities around the world.
