The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to announce the publication of Status of Recent Geoscience Graduates 2017. This report details the results of AGI's Geoscience Student Exit Survey for academic year 2016-2017, documenting trends in geoscience coursework, student experiences, and the immediate career plans of the new graduates. This is the fifth consecutive year of this survey and report, and with this release, consistent trends have emerged about the experiences of postsecondary geoscience students.
The 2015 Status of Recent Geoscience Graduates report details all the results from AGI's Geoscience Student Exit Survey for graduates of the 2014-2015 academic year. The results highlight the lack of advanced quantitative skills, a lower percentage of students interested in graduate school, and a change over in the industries hiring bachelor's graduates right out of school. Please join panelist, Carolyn Wilson (American Geosciences Institute), to learn more about AGI's Exit Survey results for 2015 and share your thoughts on this topic
The third annual Status of Recent Geoscience Graduates 2015 report has been released by the American Geosciences Institute, and covers the experiences of geoscience majors through university-level programs and on which sectors graduates had gained employment by the time of commencement.
In 2011, the American Geological Institute (AGI) launched the first pilot of a National Geoscience Exit Survey in collaboration with 32 geoscience university departments. The survey collects data about demographics, high school and community college coursework, university degrees, financial aid, field and research experiences, internships, and when and why the student chose to pursue a geosciences degree.
This survey was developed to ascertain from geoscience degree recipients the relevant experiences in school and their immediate career plans upon graduation.
