Science Debate announced that the presidential candidates have responded to their 20 Questions. AGI, with 11 AGI member organizations and 44 other nonpartisan U.S. organizations, called on the Presidential candidates to address 20 questions on the most important science, engineering, technology, health, and environment issues facing the next President.

In a recent blog post by the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, author Darin Croft reflects on his experiences as a vertebrate paleontologist and how his career has shaped his outlook on incomplete fossil assemblages, and how his understanding of the taphonomy has matured with experience. Fun brush up for the paleontologists at heart. 

The Society of Economic Geologists has announced two upcoming events. The first is the "Tethyan Tectonics and Metallogeny" in Çesme, Turkey, September 25-28, 2016. From November 29th-December 2nd, 2016 SEG will be offering a Senior Exploration Management Course at the SEG Course Center in Littleton, Colorado. The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Women's Network Committee announced that they will be hosting a post-meeting workshop on Bias and Bullying. Both men and women are encouraged to participate.

The official contest period for 2017 Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) is now open. The IBA competition is an annual prospective basin evaluation competition for geoscience graduate students from universities around the world. The American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) awarded its Outstanding Achievement Award to former AGI Executive Director Dr. P. Patrick Leahy (CPG-10507) at their Annual Meeting September, 11^th-13^th in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was noted that Leahy had had a career dedicated to, and impacting the field of geology.
