Presidential Candidates Respond to Science Questions

Science Debate announced that the presidential candidates have responded to their 20 Questions. AGI, with 11 AGI member organizations and 44 other nonpartisan U.S. organizations, called on the Presidential candidates to address 20 questions on the most important science, engineering, technology, health, and environment issues facing the next President.

The Society of Economic Geologists has announced two upcoming events. The first is the "Tethyan Tectonics and Metallogeny" in Çesme, Turkey, September 25-28, 2016. From November 29th-December 2nd, 2016 SEG will be offering a Senior Exploration Management Course at the SEG Course Center in Littleton, Colorado. The official contest period for 2017 Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) is now open. The IBA competition is an annual prospective basin evaluation competition for geoscience graduate students from universities around the world. AIPG: Dr. P. Patrick Leahy Recognized for Outstanding Achievement

The American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) awarded its Outstanding Achievement Award to former AGI Executive Director Dr. P. Patrick Leahy (CPG-10507) at their Annual Meeting September, 11th-13th in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was noted that Leahy had had a career dedicated to, and impacting the field of geology.
