AGI Announces Incoming Foundation Trustees for 2018

The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is honored to name three outstanding individuals as new trustees for the AGI Foundation (AGIF). The Institute welcomes Jennifer M. Erich, Alma H. Paty, and Chandler T. Wilhelm, each of whom joins a distinguished group of scientists and professionals who share a strong commitment to the geoscience community.

AGI Accepting Applications for 2009 Award for Excellence in Earth Science Teaching

The American Geological Institute (AGI) and the AGI Foundation are accepting applications for the Edward C. Roy, Jr. Award for Excellence in Earth Science Teaching. Given annually, this award recognizes one classroom teacher from kindergarten to eighth grade for his or her leadership and innovation in earth science education.

AGI Publishes Coal and the Environment

To highlight the importance of coal in our daily lives and the environmental concerns that are associated with its mining and use, the American Geological Institute (AGI) has published "Coal and the Environment" (ISBN 0-922152-77-2) as part of the Environmental Awareness Series. Produced in cooperation with the Illinois Basin Consortium, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the Office of Surface Mining with additional support from the AGI Foundation and the U.S. Geological Survey, "Coal and the Environment" discusses the mining, processing, transportation, use, and environmental aspects associated with this important resource.
