Hesperian . The intermediate-aged system of rocks in the geologic stratigraphy of the planet Mars. Named after Hesperia Planum, a broad upland area of plains with numerous wrinkle ridges; the base of the ridged plains defines the base of the Hesperian system (Tanaka, 1986).
