'Critical Needs' Public Awareness Campaign: AGI Affirms Commitment to Advancing National Interests Amid New Policy Directions

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is launching a communications campaign recognizing recent actions of the Administration and reaffirming AGI’s commitment to ensuring that the geosciences continue to play a central role in supporting national priorities, including economic growth, infrastructure resilience, technological innovation, national security, public safety, and global leadership.

Geoscience is vital to the well-being of society and the prosperity of the nation, the campaign explains, drawing on AGI’s new six-part document series, Critical Needs: Geosciences Meeting the Needs of the Nation. From ensuring the robust supply of critical minerals to strengthening disaster preparedness and response, geoscience research and workforce development align with the Administration’s objectives for economic growth, national security, and technological advancement.

AGI is dedicated to promoting sound, evidence-based policies that align with the nation’s most pressing geoscience needs. The comprehensive resources available at www.criticalneeds.org outline key priorities, including:

AGI stands ready to collaborate with policymakers, industry leaders, and the scientific community to ensure that geoscience expertise is effectively leveraged in shaping policies that benefit the nation. We encourage all stakeholders to explore AGI’s resources and engage in discussions on the importance of geoscience in driving innovation and growth.

Starting this week, look for AGI’s Critical Needs social media campaign on LinkedIn, Instagram, X (Twitter), and Facebook.
