AGI Announces Search for New Executive Director
Alexandria, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) Search Committee invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Executive Director.
About AGI
AGI is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving the geoscience community by providing collaborative leadership and information to connect Earth, science, and people. As a federation of scientific and professional associations representing over a quarter-million geoscientists, AGI contributes to the public’s understanding of earth sciences and their practical implications for society.
Position Description
The Executive Director conducts the affairs of AGI with direction from the Board of Directors, including administering all planning and policies, supervising AGI staff, coordinating various activities, projects, and programs of the Institute, and holds fiduciary responsibility for AGI.
Applicants should be scientists who have:
- Demonstrated leadership and vision in the natural sciences
- An established professional record as a scientist
- Broad knowledge and interest in the geoscience community
- Proven senior level management and budgetary experience
- Excellent interpersonal and personnel supervisory management skills
- Experience in fundraising
