AGI and USGS Sponsor Photography Exhibit 'Stones from the Sky: Landscapes of Geology'
Alexandria, VA — “Stones from the Sky: Landscapes of Geology” the exhibit featuring the stunning aerial photography of Michael Collier, is currently on display in the U.S. Geological Survey Art Hallway. As part of this showing, photographer and author Michael Collier will present an illustrated reading at the USGS Visitors Center on January 16, 2008 at 3:00 PM.
Renowned in the geosciences for his stunning work, Collier has received the American Geological Institute’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Public Understanding of Geosciences. In addition, his books have won the National Outdoor Book Award, the National Park Service Director’s Award and the U.S. Geological Survey’s Communications Award.
Directly following Collier’s presentation, a reception will be held until 6:30 PM in the Art Hallway. Visitors will be able to view the impressive photographs and talk to the photographer about his experiences in aerial photography and the geosciences.
“Stones from the Sky” will be on display at the U.S. Geological Survey throughout the month of January.
