AGI Welcomes 2020 Executive Committee

The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) welcomes new members to the AGI Executive Committee:

  • Dr. David R. Wunsch (Delaware Geological Survey) - President Elect
  • Mr. Dennis J. Anderson (Omaha, Nebraska) - Treasurer
  • Dr. Paul Weimer (University of Colorado, Boulder) - Member at Large (continuing)

AGI congratulates Dr. Carolyn G. Olson as she takes office as AGI President. New and departing members of the Executive Committee will be recognized at the Friends of AGI Reception on September 23, 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona.

About the new AGI President, Dr. Carolyn G. Olson

Dr. Carolyn G. Olson has had a distinguished career in government with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), specializing in soil geomorphology, hydrology, and paleoclimate. She is Past-President and Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America and was a senior policy scientist in the Office of the Chief Economist at USDA. She is a Coordinating Lead Author for the Fourth National Climate Assessment and served on numerous federal interagency committees and on the boards of several AGI member organizations. She holds degrees from Syracuse University, Indiana University, and Harvard University. Dr. Olson is currently Scientist Emerita at USGS, where she continues her work in Quaternary geology and hydrology.

About the new AGI President Elect, Dr. David R. Wunsch

The new AGI President Elect, Dr. David R. Wunsch, previously served as AGI Executive Committee Secretary from 2004. Wunsch is the State Geologist and Director of the Delaware Geological Survey.

About the new Treasurer, Dennis J. Anderson

The new Treasurer, Dennis J. Anderson, previously served on AGI committees and has been active with AGI member organizations. Anderson is the sole proprietor of DJA Geotech, LLC, an engineering and geologic consulting firm.
