Earth Science Week 2019 Theme Announced: 'Geoscience Is for Everyone'

The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) has announced that the theme of Earth Science Week 2019 will be ‘Geoscience Is for Everyone’. The event will be celebrated from October 15-17, 2019.

“Geoscience is for everyone,” says AGI. “This theme emphasizes both the inclusive potential and the importance of the geosciences in the lives of all people. The theme is meant to encourage individuals of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities to engage with the geosciences, whether that is as a geoscience professional, a hobbyist, or through civic engagement.”

The Geoscience Is for Everyone theme offers an opportunity for people of all descriptions to explore studies and careers in geosciences. “Geoscience can be done anywhere—in the countryside, in the city, or somewhere else—because Earth systems are continually interacting everywhere on the planet,” AGI adds.

AGI leads Earth Science Week in cooperation with its sponsors and the geoscience community as a service to the public. Each October, community groups, educators, and interested citizens organize celebratory events. Earth Science Week offers opportunities to discover the Earth sciences and engage in responsible stewardship of the Earth.
