Dr. Kevin Bohacs Honored as 2024 Marcus Milling Legendary Geoscientist

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Dr. Kevin Bohacs, a trailblazing sedimentologist and stratigrapher who is now retired from ExxonMobil in Houston, Texas, has been awarded the American Geosciences Institute’s (AGI) 2024 Marcus Milling Legendary Geoscientist Medal in recognition of his lifetime of notable achievements in the geosciences and global impact across disciplines. Dr. Bohacs has contributed significantly to the geosciences in several areas, including sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology of mudstones and lacustrine systems, source rock stratigraphy and unconventional plays, and sequence stratigraphic controls related to coal. David R. Wunsch Honored with AGI Ian Campbell Medal for Superlative Service to Geosciences

Wunsch, State Geologist and Director of the Delaware Geological Survey, as the 2024 recipient of the AGI Medal in Memory of Ian Campbell for Superlative Service to the Geosciences. Dr. Wunsch’s service in government has spanned agencies and decades. From 2011 to the present, he has served as the State Geologist of Delaware, supervising geologists and staff conducting research and data collection on the state’s geology, water, and natural resources. ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Natasha Dacic is the 2024-2025 William L. Fisher Congressional Geoscience Fellow, chosen by the American Geosciences Institute (AGI). The Fisher Fellowship is a unique opportunity for a geoscientist to work as staff in a congressional office or committee for a year in Washington, D.C. Ms. Dacic expects to earn her Ph.D. in Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering in August 2024 at the University of Michigan, where her doctoral work is focused on understanding the geoscience behind greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural soil, policies focused on agricultural emissions, and the framework needed to foster engagement between academia and community partners. Fulbright Specialist in Malaysia: Extending AGI Role in Education for Sustainable Development
