Vicki S. McConnell Honored with AGI Ian Campbell Medal for Service to Geosciences

Alexandria, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to recognize Dr. Vicki S. McConnell, former Executive Director of The Geological Society of America (GSA) and current GSA Executive Director Emerita, as the 2023 recipient of the AGI Medal in Memory of Ian Campbell for Superlative Service to the Geosciences. Leading GSA since 2015, Dr. McConnell ensured GSA’s vibrancy through the pandemic, engaged early-career scientists and students to participate in GSA leadership, and secured a National Science Foundation grant for GSA to effect positive cultural changes in the geosciences. Christine Ray Named 2023-2024 AGI Fisher Congressional Fellow

Alexandria, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) congratulates Dr. Christine Ray on her selection as the 2023-2024 William L. Fisher Congressional Geoscience Fellow. The Fisher Fellowship offers geoscientists the unique opportunity to spend a year in Washington, D.C., working as a staff member in the office of a member of Congress or with a congressional committee. Tahirkheli retires, effective March 31, 2023, following a career of more than 30 years of leadership within AGI and the field of geoscience information.
