AGI Announces Selena Martinez as Recipient of 2022 Scholarship for Advancing Diversity in the Geoscience Profession

Alexandria, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) congratulates Ph.D. student Selena Martinez as the 2022 recipient of the AGI Scholarship for Advancing Diversity in the Geoscience Profession. This competitive scholarship provides $5,000 to support an underrepresented minority student for their transition into a geoscience graduate program. Siegel, Professor Emeritus at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences of Syracuse University, with the 2022 Marcus Milling Legendary Geoscientist Medal. Dr. Siegel is acclaimed for his decades of pioneering work on wetland geochemistry and hydrogeology, his education and mentoring of students and early-career scientists, and his leadership in multiple geoscience professional societies. AGI's Geoscience COVID-19 Study to Focus on Permanent Changes from the Pandemic
