Earth Science Week 2021 Theme Announced: 'Water Today and for the Future'

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to announce that the theme of Earth Science Week 2021 will be "Water Today and for the Future." The coming year's event, to be held October 10-16, 2021, will emphasize the importance of learning how to understand, conserve, and protect water, perhaps Earth's most vital resource.

Earth Science Week 2020 Contest Winners Announced

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) congratulates the winners and finalists of this year's Earth Science Week art, photo, essay, and video contests, whose creative submissions addressed the Earth Science Week 2020 theme of "Earth Materials in Our Lives." Organized by AGI, Earth Science Week is an annual celebration and public awareness campaign reaching millions of people worldwide each year with information about geoscience.

AGI Invites Applications for New Scholarship for Advancing Diversity in the Geoscience Profession

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to announce its new Scholarship for Advancing Diversity in the Geoscience Profession. The scholarship is a one-time $5,000 award supporting geoscience graduate studies by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who self-identifies as a member of an underrepresented minority (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color) and is within two semesters of completing a recognized geoscience program.

AGI Welcomes 2021 Board of Directors

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) welcomes new members to the AGI Board of Directors (formerly the AGI Executive Committee) and congratulates Dr. David R. Rebecca L. Dodge of Midwestern State University Honored for Service to AGI

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to recognize Dr. Rebecca L. Dodge, Professor Emeritus at Midwestern State University, as the 2020 recipient of the William B. Heroy Jr. Award for Distinguished Service to AGI. Dr. Dodge has longstanding ties to AGI's Environmental Program both as a co-author of an Environmental Awareness Series publication and as a member of AGI's former Environment Geoscience Advisory Committee, where she represented the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).
