geocentric latitude . (a) The latitude or angle at the center of the Earth between the plane of the celestial equator and a line (radius) to a given point on the Earth's surface. It would be identical with geodetic latitude only for a truly spherical Earth. Symbol: ψ. (b) The celestial latitude of a body based on or as seen from the Earth's center.
