Job Summary

You will serve as a Astronomer in the Earth Orientation (EO) of NAVOBSERV.

Major Duties

  • Provides precise time and time interval (PTTI), earth orientation and astronomical data and advice to all Department of Defense (DoD) agencies and user organizations.
  • Updates current and future DoD requirements in astrometry, PTTI and earth orientation.
  • Resolves data anomalies and proves data quality.
  • Very long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) correlator will analyze raw observations to produce information used in further analyses that generate critical data.
  • You will develop test plans, interprets the test results, and resolve inconsistencies.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Ensures the correlator software is current and the hardware components are maintained.

- Involves the use of scientific data analysis to determine the cause of problems.

- Reduces Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) Correlator Analyst observations used for astronomy and geodesy used to determine polar motion and Universal Time.

- Maintains documentation regarding the maintenance of the hardware and software components of the correlator.

- Understands astronomical software using programming languages such as: C, C++, and Fortran, etc. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website:

Pay Range

$83,398.00 - $108,422.00
