Major Duties
The PSS Cluster supports research aimed at furthering the understanding of organisms as integrated units of biological organization. The Cluster considers proposals focused on advancing our understanding whole-organism physiological mechanisms, functional morphology, and physiological ecology. The Cluster considers proposals focused on interacting physiological and structural systems, their environmental and evolutionary contexts, and how these components are constrained by their integration at the level of the whole organism.
The IEP Program supports research on genetic, biochemical, morphological and physiological mechanisms underlying organismal responses to their dynamic abiotic and biotic environments framed in explicit ecological or evolutionary contexts. We seek qualified candidates whose background and expertise bridges genetics, functional genomics and physiological ecology. IEP program directors frequently collaborate with those in other programs across the Division and Directorate. Candidates whose research makes connections to other areas within the Division and Directorate encouraged to apply.
