Job Summary

This position is in the Southern Regional Office Planning Unit located in Atlanta, GA. Serves as the Team Leader for the Regional Planning Team and extended Forest teams, responsible for the management/oversight of the plan revision process, the assembly of Revised Forest Plans and related environmental documents and coordination during the revision process. Major Duties

  • Manages and oversees the preparation of assessment reports, revises forest plans and related environmental documents, and prepares monitoring plans and other supporting documents.
  • Responsible for meeting overall project timeframes and intermediate milestone dates that are set and agreed to by the Steering Committee and Regional Forester to ensure the timely completion of the revision process.
  • Coordinates with individual Forest?s on their Forest Plan revisions.
  • Serves as the principal liaison between Regional and Forest leadership, Forest Planners and Forest Interdisciplinary Team members.
  • Coordinates with the Washington Office Ecosystem Management Coordination Office and Regional and Forest Planning Staff, in order to ensure consistent policy and procedural direction.
  • Coordinates with the Office of General Counsel (OGC) to ensure legal and regulatory guidance and compliance.
  • Performs oversight and direction needed to prepare reports, assessments, environmental impact statements, strategic forest plans, and the administrative record for the Regional Planning Team.
  • Prepares concise clear direction through all phases of the planning process.
  • Maintains current knowledge of planning developments and related subjects pertaining to the preparation of documents that are compliant with law, policy, and regulation.
  • Provides advice and guidance concerning program related or administrative policies or management and organizational theories that require adaptation and/or interpretation for application.

0401 Series: Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

Combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major described above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level. Examples of specialized experience are: Provided leadership and/or guidance in the management of natural resources management; implemented and executed the project plans for a natural resources program area or related area; coordinated the assigned programs and plans with other resource management functions; provided recommendations on development and execution of Forest programs to ensure their accomplishment within applicable guidelines; participated on land management planning efforts by providing resource data information, advice and members of staff to help formulate long range plans for the functional areas of the program; prepared and/or assessed short-range and long-range functional resource and fiscal plans to ensure compliance with land management planning policies and regulations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Pay Range

$96,117.00 - $124,955.00
