Job Summary
As a Biologist you will serve as a Veterinary Biologics Specialist on an interdisciplinary team at the Center for Veterinary Biologics, you will support the inspection, export and investigation activities required in the enforcement of the Virus-Serum-Toxin Act and the pursuant rules and regulations of veterinary biologics producers and importers, domestic and international.
Major Duties
- The duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Advises and collaborates with the Director, Section Leaders and other officials concerning scheduling and execution of all phases of the veterinary biologics field program.
- Establishes work schedules for professionals within work unit regarding the role of Program Coordinator each Fiscal Year.
- Assures work output related to marketing release submissions is of an acceptable quality and quantity.
- Serves as subject matter expert with the maintenance and development of the Center's computerized systems, an invaluable tool used for the implementation of the Virus-Serum-Toxin Act.
- Serves as a program system administrator regarding program information.
- Provides training for in the areas of market authorizations, required submissions and requests from the regulated industry, and administrative inspection reviews.
- Research and apply quantitative and/or qualitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Degree: bachelor's degree or higher with a major in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience: post high school education with courses equivalent to a major, which is defined as 24 semester/36 quarter hours, in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience or additional course work. FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Managing daily processes regarding authorizations for movement or marketing of regulated veterinary biological products. Serving as Quality Management liaison, between regulatory and laboratory staffs regarding marketing authorizations and test reference packets. Functioning as program system administrator and responsible for scheduling coverage for essential regulatory processes with professional and support staff. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. TRANSCRIPTS are required: This position requires specific coursework or a degree in a specific field to be basically qualified. This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Pay Range
$91,231.00 - $118,603.00
