The position of Biologist falls under the 0401 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-11, you must meet Time-in-Grade (TIG) requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 12/18/2019. In addition to meeting TIG, applicants must also meet the Basic Requirement AND Minimum Qualifications as follows: BASIC REQUIREMENT: A. Have a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in Biological sciences, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS AT TIME OF APPLICATION). OR

B. Have a combination of education and experience -- Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS AT TIME OF APPLICATION). In addition to meeting either of the Basic Requirements stated above, applicants must also meet either of the following: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 or equivalent band level of responsibility in the Federal service assisting scientific/research team(s) in planning and conducting biological, biochemical and/or molecular biological laboratory experiments; providing guidance to others on laboratory management and maintaining laboratory compliance with institutional safety and animal use regulations; conducting protein expression purification and characterization; and analyzing and communicating the results of experiments on cell-based assays.

B. Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines that provided me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work of this position; OR I have successfully completed three full years (54 semester hours or the equivalent) of progressively higher level doctoral education leading toward such a degree (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS AT TIME OF APPLICATION). In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. Pay Range

$62,236.00 - $80,912.00
