This Direct-Hire position is in the Food and Drug Ad.ministration located in Beltsville, MD. See the sections below for more details on the duties & qualifications for this position. Major Duties

  • Applies knowledge to unique complex situations and develop new approaches to scientific problems that are difficult to solve.
  • Develops and writes reports that include recommendations for major changes, elimination, or improvement of operations and program plans.
  • Provides recommendations to higher-level scientist as it relates to the general approach to obtaining the requested information established by Agency regulations and Federal laws.
  • Serves as a technical advisor on matters related to exposure and health determinations as it relates to tobacco exposure.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

In order to qualify as Biologist, GS-0401-11, you must meet the following: A. Have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

B. Have a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (You must submit your transcript(s) that demonstrates this coursework at time of application submission). - AND- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: GS-11: A: Applicants must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the Federal service that may includes analyzing studies and investigations concerning drugs, foods, and/or chemicals that affect biological resources, assisting with writing reports that provide recommendations for change or improvement and analyzing conventional issues pertaining to biological processes. OR B: Have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the position. GS-12: Applicants must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service that may include assisting with the development of scientific experiments, conducting biological studies/investigations, following established experimental protocols or developing new experimental/biologic protocols, and providing recommendations to other scientists or scientific staff. GS-13: Applicants must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service that may include investigating or analyzing scientific data from studies and investigations concerning drugs, foods, and chemicals, establishing criteria and protocols to develop new techniques and formulating projects and preparing synopsis of data submitted for review. $69,581.00 - $128,920.00
