Job Summary
Army Public Health Center mission is to promote and prevent disease, injury and disability of Soldiers, military retirees, their Families and Department of the Army Civilian Employees; and assure effective execution of full spectrum veterinary services for Army and Department of Defense Veterinary missions. This position serves in the Toxicology Directorate, Health Effects Division.
Major Duties
- Serves as a project leader and principle investigator responsible for formulating and guiding toxicological research projects.
- Responsible for identifying data gaps and areas within the mission where toxicology data is needed and design projects to support those needs and requirements.
- Establishes work priorities, determines overall project objectives with available resources, and carries out the assignment/study.
- Responsible for ensuring work is in line with toxicology and organizational mission.
- Responsible for formulating interpretations that may take the form of policy statements, regulations, and guidelines.
- Responsible for advising on specialized field of biology or toxicology, to solve complex environmental problems.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Biologist series 0401:
1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) conducting evaluation studies on environmental or workplace compounds of military concerns, such as explosives, smoke or propellants; 2) developing contract specifications for procurement of research services; AND 3) conducting toxicological studies, such as carcinogenic potency, genotoxicity, metabolism or omic-type research. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
