Job Summary

The incumbent is to perform senior level scientific work involving studies of the functions, environmental response, biological activities and/or processes of humans and animals and their component parts.

Major Duties

As a Biologist (Direct Hire), you will:

  • Implement scientific policies and procedures on biological science practices and principles.
  • Aid in the analysis of data and the preparation of manuscripts from lab generated experiments.
  • Analyze epidemiologic investigation data utilizing new methodologies or existing techniques for process improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and validate new analytical workflows and methods for infectious diseases.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other researchers in Branch.
  • Present findings and deliver briefings to explain and justify recommendations for biological fact-finding studies and or projects.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Applicant must have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

Have a combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in designing, overseeing, implementing, and/or conducting biological scientific surveys/studies or projects for public health problems.

Pay Range

$96,117.00 - $124,955.00
