Job Summary

What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? Salary: $68,309 (Step 01) to $88,801 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired atthe Step 01. There is one vacancy; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.

Major Duties

As a Biologist performing work as a Monitoring Resources Project Lead within the Pacific Northwest Aquatic Monitoring Partnership, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Coordinate efforts to integrate resource monitoring programs of state, federal, tribal, local, and private organizations to refine methods and protocols for monitoring programs and projects.
  • Lead multi-skilled teams from state, federal, and tribal entities in the Northwest to recommend, modify and/or enhance tools and products for regional resource monitoring efforts.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (e.g. field practitioners, management, and policy makers) to define project and software requirements for monitoring and integrating scientific data and metadata (e.g. biological and habitat).
  • Collaborate with software development team to ensure understanding of use cases, features, business & technical domain rules and overall product goals for product development and implementation, data integration and analysis, and overall maintenance requirements of biological and habitat monitoring data.
  • Train other USGS staff in PNAMP administrative processes, such as work plan documentation, contract tracking and content management for PNAMP website.
  • Train partners in the use of PNAMP’s software tools, including MonitoringResources.org.

In

addition to the basic education requirements, you must have 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Examples of experience at the GS-09 level work may include:

1) participation in the planning and execution of biological studies with limited number of variables; 2) performing established, standardized tests and analyses on a broad range of biological samples; 3) conducting biological studies using established fact finding procedures; 4) utilize knowledge of development and use of software applications of biological and habitat monitoring data for data documentation, integration and analysis; and 5) effectively apply project management skills to biological and habitat monitoring data integration analysis projects. For examples 1-5, assignments were made with the objectives, priorities, and deadlines defined. The work was planned and carried out independently in accordance with proven techniques, methods, and practices. Controversial use of approaches or modifications of standard procedures were typically discussed with a designated person before being carried out.
